Quacking up ...

Most steps/ movements in ballet have French names...  except it seems the 'Lame Duck'  - technically  it's a pique turn en dehors but you'll never hear it called that  among English speaking  dancers ...

last weekend at  The Ballet Retreat, the repetoire from Balanchine's 'Serenade'  we were learning included  a number of them. I'd  touched on them briefly elsewhere, but  that was  last weekend's main piece of 'new'  technique ...
