'An aesthetic '

I've posted previously about what i wear to class ( here, here, here, here), I was chatting to a professional ballerina recently  and showed her a picture  i'd  taken of my  self (using self timer) en pointe...

As well as some pointers on technique - all criticisms  i'd  given myself   ( was that meant to be a  releve in 5th as  it's not a Sou-sous)  or  was it a really small  fourth ?   and  relax my shoulders ...    the  best / funniest  comment  was aobut my attire 'you are much more of a proper ballerina  that I am ...'  and the reason  for that ?

leotard, pink tights,  and wrap skirt ...

I've written previously about coding appearance  and such like,  which can be  important  early in  transition ,  especially  if your hair is  up and back in a bun.

Obviously this is the moment  when  people think of the pictures that are out there on various social media of myself and Sophie Rebecca, looking like prim and proper  and very english ballerinas ...

but  thinking about it , it's not  just  that coding aspects, as that doesn't  explain  the unofficial dress code of   of various of my regular classes   or The Ballet Retreat (group pic from this summer's corps de ballet day ) or the innumerable other pics  on TBR social media ...  Even my regular class (a  drop in  adult recreational class albeit one pitched at improver to Inter  and  followed by Inter to Advanced) at Hype   in Sheffield on a Monday evening  has 'an aesthetic'  and it's common for two thirds of the female presenting dancers  there to be in  pink tights,  wrap skirt  and leotard ...
